New Construction Plumbing in Grand Rapids

Why Builder-Grade Plumbing Matters

New construction plumbing is graded on two things: does it pass inspection, and does it perform reliably over the building's life? A rough-in that's a little off causes inspection delays, rework, and schedule pressure on every trade after us. Improper venting causes drain noise and slow drains that show up on punch list. Undersized water service causes pressure complaints from day one. Skipped expansion control causes water heater T&P failures within the first year of occupancy. The savings on a low-bid plumbing scope are almost always smaller than the cost of fixing the resulting problems — and on multi-family and commercial work, the developer or owner is usually the one absorbing both. We bid scope completely, install to code (and often above), coordinate with the other trades during framing and rough-in to avoid conflicts, and pressure-test before drywall closes the walls. That discipline is what keeps schedules predictable and warranty calls low.

We work in phases aligned to your build schedule. Rough-in and underground work typically occurs early, followed by top-out and trim-out once drywall and finishes are ready. We coordinate closely to avoid delays.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about our commercial plumbing services.

Yes. We partner with general contractors, builders, developers, and design-build firms on new construction across Grand Rapids and West Michigan — from single-tenant retail and restaurant build-outs to multi-family developments and ground-up commercial buildings. We coordinate scheduling with the superintendent, hit our rough-in and trim-out dates, and communicate proactively when scope or schedule changes affect us or another trade.

Absolutely. We provide full-scope new construction plumbing — underground (DWV, water service, gas service), rough-in (within stud walls and above ceiling), top-out (vent stacks through roof), fixture set, and final trim-out (faucets, toilets, fixture connections, water heater commissioning). Whether you need a single phase or full project scope, we'll bid accordingly.

Yes. We pull permits with the local AHJ (Grand Rapids, Wyoming, Kentwood, Walker, and surrounding municipalities), schedule and coordinate the inspections at each phase (underground, rough-in, top-out, final), and provide all required documentation. If your build is in a township or municipality outside our normal service area, we coordinate with their plumbing inspector as well.

Both. We handle commercial new construction (offices, retail, restaurants, healthcare, industrial, multi-family, mixed-use) and residential new construction (custom homes, spec builds, additions, ADUs). For multi-family and mixed-use we coordinate the residential and commercial portions of the building under one scope.

Most new construction plumbing bids are turned around within 5-7 business days from receipt of plans, depending on scope and complexity. For multi-family and large commercial projects we can break out alternates and value-engineered options. We work from architectural plans plus mechanical, and will flag any plan issues or coordination conflicts during the bid process.

Yes. We routinely propose value-engineered alternatives during bidding — pipe material swaps where code allows, fixture spec adjustments, manifold vs. trunk-and-branch water distribution, tankless vs. tank for shared hot water, recirculation strategies. We're transparent about which choices save money up front, which save money over the building's life, and which add risk.

Yes. Our work is warrantied per Michigan Plumbing Code minimums at a minimum, with extended warranty terms available depending on project agreement. Post-move-in callbacks are responded to promptly — we don't disappear after the certificate of occupancy.
